There were some trees in this spot, and I really hated the BBQ being under the car port. So there was only one solution; make a nice little pad. All of this material was free, so that was a bonus and it only took us about an hour of time.

walk ways
that walk way up to my house, was innocent, but one afternoon I decided to rip it all out and start again. no vision, no knowledge nothing.
turns out a moment of insanity was all it needed.
I trimmed the bushes on the far right, planted hibiscus bushes so they will grow into small hedges, and put down bark.
Our little mail box planter even got an update... more on that later.

Staining our Bed Espresso
I decided to stain our bed espresso. I know it's dark, and not what most people would like. But I do, and it goes with the vision I have for a romantic adult bedroom.
I started staining before taking the pic, oops

The head board is so beautiful, Chris has really proven himself as a craftsman.

MUST HAVE IT NOW
I saw this on Pinterest, and I needed it like Now.
This is Mine.
I purchased an unfinished dresser from Ikea and painted it myself, and added silver knobs. If i could find knobs like the ones in the first picture we will be all right, for now it works. I don't particularity like the things on top of the dresser, but we are trying new things until we find the right fit. Chris mounted the TV to the wall, and hid all the cords for me. I also wanted to point out we are changing all the door handles in the house to levers, but since they are so expensive its one a week, and the most used are first to get replaced.
This piece ties in so nice with our living room because we needed some place to hold our movies and games, plus our china since there is no storage in our dining room.

Master Bed Curtains
I have this "thing" about curtains, I always hate the way they look. But I was determined to make them look nice and match the room.
I found some material for $.50 a yard at Walmart. I made straight stitches on 3 panels. It looked nice, but was boring, and it still let in a lot of light along the top. After searching my options on Pinterest, I asked Chris to make me a valance box. Our comforter came with 4 pillow shams, and we weren't using any of them, so I decided to use 2 of them for the box.
I started with some basic batting and tacked it down with the staple gun. Then I aligned the shams so the ends met in the middle and just pulled it tight, and tacked it with the staple gun. Chris hung it with some basic L brackets.
Finally something not boring.

Kitchen
I suspect that the kitchen didnt see much action from the previous owner. He was 92, and ate out 3 meals a day. I am also in belief that he never cleaned anything.
So, here is what the kitchen looked like days before we moved in.
I will not lie, I snuck in 3 days before our closing date, and paid someone to clean it for me. The funniest thing to us was that the stove had never been used, still had plastic on the wire racks inside. The floor is not brown/black, it's white. I disliked the counter tops, sink and light fixtures. We are saving up to get a new floor.
