MUST HAVE IT NOW

I saw this on Pinterest, and I needed it like Now.

This is  Mine.

I purchased an unfinished dresser from Ikea and painted it myself, and added silver knobs. If i could find knobs like the ones in the first picture we will be all right, for now it works.  I don't particularity like the things on top of the dresser, but we are trying new things until we find the right fit. Chris mounted the TV to the wall, and hid all the cords for me. I also wanted to point out we are changing all the door handles in the house to levers, but since they are so expensive its one a week, and the most used are first to get replaced.

This piece ties in so nice with our living room because we needed some place to hold our movies and games, plus our china since there is no storage in our dining room.

Master Bed Curtains

I have this "thing" about curtains, I always hate the way they look.  But I was determined to make them look nice and match the room.

I found some material for $.50 a yard at Walmart. I made straight stitches  on 3 panels. It looked nice, but was boring, and it still let in a lot of light along the top. After searching my options on Pinterest, I asked Chris to make me a valance box. Our comforter came with 4 pillow shams,  and we weren't  using any of them, so I decided to use 2 of them for the box.

I started with some basic batting and tacked it down with the staple gun. Then I aligned the shams so the ends met in the middle and just pulled it tight, and tacked it with the staple gun. Chris hung it with some basic L brackets.

 Finally something not boring.

Kitchen

I suspect that the kitchen didnt see much action from the previous owner. He was 92, and ate out 3 meals a day.  I am also in belief that he never cleaned anything.

So, here is what the kitchen looked like days before we moved in.

I will not lie, I snuck in 3 days before our closing date, and paid someone to clean it for me. The funniest thing to us was that the stove had never been used, still had plastic on the wire racks inside. The floor is not brown/black, it's white. I disliked the counter tops, sink and light fixtures. We are saving up to get a new floor.

3 Doors

most people won't even notice this next trick we pulled out of our hats.

Notice in this pic that there are 3 small  glass doors in the living room.

well not anymore, I hated them. I thought it looked so out of place. The cabinet isn't deep enough for the china I was going to display, however that structure has to stay. I decided to flip the doors around to the other side (Chris did all the work.). Glass doors make more sense, to me, in a kitchen. Plus we now use that for  food storage. It works for us.

Took the knobs off, and  filled with some crafty substance

Now in the kitchen

Dining room

I love farm house kitchen's and dining rooms, this by far was the easiest room to put together.

A farm house table, with a bench. pics of fruits and veggies, roosters, burlap.

Master Bed

I went to so many stores. I searched for a few weeks, months. But I finally started making progress with what was to be my ultimate goal, in my new house. A Romantic, sophisticated, ADULT, Master Bedroom. I finally found something at Kohl’s. An expensive, but on sale comforter, that came with a few decorative pillows. I also purchased  new sheets, that coordinate.(smile because they make me sooo happy)   I also decided to use my mother’s 4 poster bed, its natural wood right now but  I plan on  staining it espresso.   I need to work on drapery, and tchotchkes. I would also like to find some nice, non plain, frames to hang a few pics of me and the Fella.

New house

A few months ago, I decided to buy a house, It was a fast decision but very wise. It took several months to get into the house, finally on June 1st I became the official owner.  I live here with my Fiancee Chris, and our dog Bingo. My sister is my neighbor.  I can't wait to see our visions come to life.
